Meeting The Parents - Marketing Tactic

Meeting the parents is a term I like to use when describing part of the sales letter technique. I believe that the first impression your visitors get when they view your sales pages is kind of like "meeting the parents."

Do you remember that first time when had to meet the parents of the person you were dating? Were you nervous, excited, maybe even terrified? Were you always trying to make a good impression and get the parents to approve of you? Well thats whats its like for a first time visitor that is viewing your website. You the owner of the site is still playing the role of the person who is meeting the parents however this time the parents are actually your first time website visitors.

As a website owner the first impression is a big part of making the sale. When someone firsts visits a website they instantly start to breakdown you entire website presence and usually this is done sub-consiously.

Becuase of this you need to make sure you are always doing your best to not only impress your website visitor but give them the information they are looking for in a professional manner.

  1. Make sure your content is spelled right. Dont make the mistake of not using "spell check" when you create your webpage.

  2. Do your graphics load? One of the biggest turn offs for web site visitors is when your graphics dont load. Always check your websites before you start driving traffic to them.

  3. When you send out newwsletters always test your email links. One way to loose money is promoting the wrong URL or an invalid URL to your subscribers.

  4. Check your email tag name and make sure you dont mispell it. If your email tag name is wrong you can be in jepordy of loosing the personal relationship with your subscriber list.
    Email Tag Marketing
(Above) is an email I received from an internet marketer. As you can see this person acidentally mispelled his email tag name and it resulted in showing the above. Dont make the same mistake by always proofing your emails before you send them out.

  5. Make sure you dont have any 404 error pages. Check your website for any "in site" links and make sure you are not pointing to any web pages that are not avilable on your site. This can loose you sales and make your web site look unprofessional.

  6. Include your contact information on the bottom of every page of your website. This will give your web site visitors a sense of security when buying products from your web site if they know they can contact you easily.

Always Remember: It doesn't matter if you are creating a new web site or sending out an email broadcast you must always be as professional as possible becuase when it comes to your web site visitors you want to give the best first impression you can, just like when your "meeting the parents!"
